Mashike & Rumoi surf trip 3

This time Botan prawn was on season.
After wine tasting at Kunimare sake brewery, we walked around to have a lunch.
Fried Botan Ebi (prawn) as an entre,  actually this can be a right snack with sake.
Then we had seafood ramen, contains Botan Ebi, scallop.
As a dessert at near-by Suzuki Kamaboko shop (fish cake shop ), we took away Botan Ebi Kamaboko.

Looking for a soft cream as a dessert..... But.... We can't have it till we finish  Onsen ( hot springs ),that is our rule!
Iwao Onsen stands on top of the hill , unfortunately the high fence prevented us from looking over the ocean from the outside bath.

Shiraoi surf trip 28 Sep

Typhoon 17 was passing through the Pacific Ocean ,  south of Hokkaido,  so we were hoping that there were some swell left.  Heading to Hamaatsuma first because we heard that there was a memorial service for the late Mr. Igawa who brought the surfing culture to Hokkaido.
About 70 surfers gathered to pay tribute to him.

Then we kept driving to Shikkaty , and the surf was shitty, onshore winds and no swell around.
By then we had an information that Shiraoi fisherman's wharf was working.

We have never seen such a crowded surf scene in Shiraoi, usually there were more fishermen than the surfers in September salmon season, but the early strong winds put away the fishermen.

My fav. food in Shiraoi is " seafood burger " at Super Kumagai.  This is a croquet made of ground cod with sara clam, yeah it's very delicious!

We indulged ourselves by soaking in a natural springs at Poroto lake spa.  It is a uniqe springs is called Moor springs.

I put a final spurt on the  Jap. food goodies.  After the spa we went straight to the Mother's farm where
the daily soft cream is famous for.  Yum yum pigs bum.

Lake Shikotsu & Mt. Eniwa

On the way home, ummmmh we couldn't help stopping at Sora ramen noodle shop at Chitose city.
Because it looked so good even from outside and drew our attention.
Chicken stock salt soup ramen with traditional yellowish colour wavey noodle satisfied me 100%.
These days the ramen noodle is whiteish straight noodle like kishimen noodle, and I like the traditional one.

Thank you for Ms. Rubesibe to have the beautiful day shared with me!

OSHIMA area surf trip Shikabe. 鹿部

Among my friends my reputation is bringing the big swell from Australia  when I come back to Sapporo.  2 days surf trip to Hakodate area with a surf chick mate was so much fun, fun waves,
delicious sea food and Izakaya food.

We departed Sapporo 4am'ish and took about 3.5hrs to Shikabe, the first surf point.
As the tide was going, a sucky section was working but generally the wave was mellow.
I'd say 1-2ft in Australian measuring.  Threw water temperature was 19c'ish.  When the sun is out,
it was pretty warm and it wasn't pain for waiting waves at all.

After the first surf, we straight went to Shiakabe public hot springs bath ( there was no one around).
The hot spa made us more hungry, after running around the village we have chosen KARUSU KUN
Restaurant.  Actually it was a public holiday so that was the only restaurant in the village.

Shikabe set menu looked so good, and it costed 850yen ,needles to say it worth having that dish.

AcmeBar & Coffee

Kuala Lumpur is now more hotter than Sydney for dinning out.

The service, the atmosphere, the good sense of  taste and the variety of the cooking style.

I still like having street's  food court foods but the last 3 years the food culture in Kl has

changed dramatically.  Health conscious Malaysia, Chinese, Indo-china & western cuisine

(No MSG & organic material ) are getting more popular among KL siders.

AcmeBar & Coffee is not an organic restaurant and I just had Coconut-cucumber-mint drink.

But this juice was sensational, needles to say I enjoyed the night out with friends.

This Meow out side the restaurat, who owns her??

It is hard to see what is under your nose

I was strolling streets and alleys looking for wonder moments.

Nothing much, not really, ummmmh  ordinary......

When I got back home, I wanted to check out the garden, then ...this  caught my eyes...

Rain drops from this morning made an aqua diamond.

I found a wonder moment just under my nose.

Arugam Bay surfing shots 2014 Jul--Natural footer's heaven

The Main points was gradually building the sand day by day and the other points would be by now.

Okanda, Panagara and Light house would be fantastic if the sand bank form perfectly, otherwise

you dig yourself into the massive back-wash.

In the evening the camera needed more light, so most of the main photos are not in focus,

but you are able to see how it was.

Arugam bay Sri Lanka 2014

This was the first Arugam Bay visit since 2006.  Back then even 2 years after Tsunami, this place

was in mess.  Debris everywhere, roads were not fixed, people were in trauma from the nightmare.

Now I see the difference.

One thing it surprised me about the locals is many local people ( men and some women ) get in  touch

with the ocean- swimming or dipping into the water.  People never had forgotten Tsunami but

they got over what has happened.

The iconic coconut tree still exist

Popular food in Jungle Fever Guest House

The last week the swell hit the main point and this week has gone small.
Taking the wave at main point is like a soldier who fights in a front line.
Now the surf scnene has calmed down, but  I don't know how long for.

Our special morning set is very popular.  Every restaurants have a same menu for every meals.
That is not fun at all, come and try our food!!

Planting herbs at Jungle Fever Guest House

To make a nice salad, here in Arugam bay it is something missing.

Fresh green leaves like lettuce, parsley, basil, rocket and mint...

So we made a small garden to grow rocket and basil.

Mr & Mrs Takechi helped to make the garden and put Reiki while they are doing, that is nice!

vivid sydney last day from the cruise boat

Vivid Sydney is getting bigger and bigger every year.

The best show was so called " light , water & music "  at Darling harbour.  It amused us indeed.

Tonight I was happened to be on the boat and needless to say I enjoyed a lot of the lighting show.

Winter has come- long weekends

Water is warm but definitely need 2-3mm wetty

Sydney had a short period of the autumn, actually we had  very warm autumn.

Now the wind gets colder but when the sun is out, we indulge ourselves into the sun spot.

The street is quiet, I am sure that many people got out of the town during the long weekends.
