Sculpture by the Sea 2011 started No.1

The anual beach exhibition of " Sculpture by the Sea" started last week.  I walked along the beach and the walk way of the top of the cliff early this morning to have a look.   Surf wasn't much, 1 ft and crowded at Tama so I didn't get bother　riding the board.  This year's exhibition  was much better than the last few years, I think.  More variety of the materials  and the ideas , also more vivid colours were used for the art work.   If you have chance to get here, just enjoy!

毎年恒例のビーチ展示会“Sculpture by the Sea"が始まった。早朝にビーチと岩の上の遊歩道を歩いて見て回った．波は１ftでたいしたことなかったし，タマは混んでたのでボードにのらなくてもかまわなかった。今年の展示会は過去２、３年に比べると良かったと思う。使用している材質、アイデアに多様性があったのと、鮮やかな色が作品に使われていた。もしここに来れる機会があったら、楽しんでいって！！

La nina...girls are around this year. We have unstable weather but not only in Australia.  Now Cambodia is flooding..

NOV 1st Mid-Morning surfing

もう１１月、この間、ホリデーから戻ってきたばかりなのに．．ひさしぶりにブロンテの海をお届けします。仕事が多くサーフィンはあまりしていなかったので、体がフィットしてないので，今日は撮影モード。！ 常連で友人のビルが波をとっていたな

It is already Nov. 1st, it won't be long since I came back from holiday.. I present you here BRONTE BEACH after a long break.  I haven't been surfing much because of full time work, so my body is not in shape, and today I am in a mood of taking pictures of surfers.  Bill who is a regular surfer and also a friend of mine was charging...

Higashi-shizunai 東静内

Typhoon swell quickly has gone, it was almost nothing left on 24th.  So it was no point to go to　Hamaatsuma for the polluted water surf session.  Ikumi and I decided to drive down the pacific ocean coast. There were hardly any swell hitting the coasts where we checked out, so we kept going.  Higashi-shizunai had some small surf just enough for two of us to take off from one peak.  Wind turned on shore but for sure we had fun!

台風のうねりは素早く過ぎ去って、２４日にはほとんどあとかたもなくなってた。なので汚水サーフセッションの浜厚真に行く意味はなかった。いくみちゃんとわたしは太平洋沿岸をおりていくことに決めた。サーフチェックしたビーチはまずうねりがあたってなかったので、さらに車を進めた。東静内は小さなうねりだったけれど一つのピークからのテークオフには２人で十分だった。風は向かい風にかわったが、間違いなく我々は楽しんだのだった。

Hamaatsuma 2 浜厚真 2

Typhoon hit Japan so badly this Sep.  Hokkaido surf gets benefit from Typhoon swell, so we left Sapporo at 3:40 am and headed to Hamaatsuma  on 23Sep.  Wave breaks up at a few points, not so many people in the ocean and maximum mellow head high wave and strong off shore wind was a winner of the day.
I had so much fun, probably this would have been the best surf  I have ever had in Japan.

台風がこの９月日本にひどい打撃を与えた。北海道は台風波から恩恵をうけるので、２３日には３時４０分に札幌を発って浜厚真に向かった。波は３、４箇所でくずれ、人も多くなく，最高でもメローな頭の高さの波と強い陸風がこの日を成功へともたらした。ほんとに楽しくサーフィンができ、多分今まで日本で乗った波で最高であったろうと言える。

Hamaatsuma 浜厚真 1

My 4 weeks holiday in Japan and Malaysia was so fantastic.  Mainly my eyes  and lips were tasting the food, yes great eating was.  I surfed 3 times in Hokkaido.  Usually I avoid to surf at Hamaatsuma ( there are so many ingredients in this water, ha ha!) but there was no choice on this day.  Well,you can see a size of the wave and how crowded it was.  I got so cold in the water.  But real indulgence awaits after surfing!
Sinking our cold body in a coke colour natural hot springs and having ramen noodle soup are the best .

４週間の日本とマレーシアの休日はすばらしかった。大概、私の目と唇はたべものを味わってたし、まさに食はすごかった。北海道では３回サーフィンをした。普通は浜厚真を避けるのだがこの日は選択値がなかった。（ここの海水は多くのいろんな成分を含んでいるので）。まあ，波のサイズと混み具合をごらんくだされ。体が冷えきったけれど本当の道楽はサーフィンの後に待ち構えてる。冷えた身体をコカコーラ色の源泉温泉に浸し，ラーメンをすするのが最高なのだ！

Numb head and fingers

A winter swell coming back , strong off shore wind makes our spine,head and fingers frozen and numb.  Water temp. is below 16c but water is warmer than outside temp. South swell is clean but Bronte sandbank is not even and need more sand.  Anyway I had a good early morning session. Brrrrrr

冬のうねりの再到来、強いオフショアの風は背筋、頭，指指を凍らせてしびれさすよ.　水温は１６度以下だが外温より暖かい.　南のうねりはきれいだが，ブロンテのサンドバンクは平でないし、もっと砂が必要.　でもでも早朝セッションはよかった。ぶるぶるぶる

September, spring, but very cold water

Sunday morning.  It was so friendly mood in a water . A pod of dolphins was swimming, surfers were mellow as same as the surf condition.  Sun is so strong, maybe because of the  activity of sun flare..?
日曜の朝.海の中ではフレンドリーな雰囲気であった.　イルカは泳ぎ，サーファーたちも波と同じようにメローであった.　太陽が凄くつよく、黒点の活動のせいか..？
